Mountain Top Surprise Proposal | James & Kiersten

James planned a surprise proposal to Kiersten on the top of Ptarmigan Mountain near Silverthorne, CO, overlooking the town, Lake Dillon, and the surrounding mountains.

While James and Kiersten took one of their usual weekend hikes to the top of the mountain, I set up a picnic (complete with flowers, snacks, and sparkling juice to celebrate) at their favorite overlook spot then hid in the trees to capture the candid moment. As they came back down the mountain (in the middle of a torrential downpour of rain and 50 MPH winds), James brought Kiersten to their spot where he got on one knee to ask her to be his wife. They shared a sweet intimate moment in their favorite spot and the weather cleared out to give them a chance to enjoy their picnic and first moments as future Mr. & Mrs. I loved how surprised Kiersten was, especially once she saw me in the tree!

I love the "surprise!" moment when you pop out and a now bride-to-be realizes there was an entire team behind this special memory and that her happy tears were all caught on camera.

James and Kiersten's surprise proposal in Silverthorne will forever be one of my favorites. I love to be a part of the plan and process to help my couples craft the perfect celebration and I always get overwhelmed by emotion in the middle of these sweet moments, especially when I can call the couple friends. Look for J & K's fall wedding coming up in September!
